| “Thank you, Jules.” Ilanah said to her assistant as she took her coat from the girl. Six days later, she still wore black, and she would continue to do so for weeks, as was social protocol. They were leaving Brentaal after two days of expressing their condolences to colleagues mostly, but very few friends and family of the former Senator of the planet. Whether Cambrist had liked it or not, Ilanah Ilyone had always considered him a friend, despite the fact that their planets were so very close together.
He had supported her in senate, and she supported him in turn. And when Chandrila was going through its darkest of times because of her treasonous predecessors, he had at least offered help if needed, even though she did not take it. While they were no longer senators, and she sat on the Chandrilian Council, Ilanah still considered Cambrist a friend, and wanted to deliver his eulogy at his memorial.
It was the day that she was hand picked for the senate, and the same day that Senator Omonda was executed, that she had realized that there was an ally there. But Ilanah Ilyone was strong on her own, and she could handle helping Chandrila stay off of Imperial radar from there on out. Unfortunately, because of the rampant acts of treason, His Majesty often still sent some to check on Chandrila from time to time. It had been a while, however, and she was glad for that. As far as she knew, there was nothing happening on her beloved homeworld that could have been construed as traitorous, so she felt she did not have to worry about it.
With a small glance to Jules, she smiled a little. “I am glad to be going home.” Yes, it had only been two days, but it had been enough. Ilanah pulled her coat on over her black dress and stepped out of the speeder so that they could walk across the landing pad to their ship.

| Rebel assassins. That phrase sounds strange, but must and will be taken seriously. One of the youngest Human Imperial Senators had been assassinated, and on the planet that he cared for dearly. The Rebels had hit, and this killing would surely be avenged. Imperial troops had been sent to prevent further incidents, and to help protect however they can. There were speculations that this wasn’t going to be their only strike against the Empire. While the Imperial Security Bureau began their investigation, there were other organizations that were beginning to become involved, in order to help keep the peace and prevent this from happening another time.
News of an informal gathering of officials and friends and family of the fallen Senator had spread throughout the Senate and across various organizations within the Empire. That news had spread to some important people, and wanted assurance that harm would not fall anyone that gathered to mourn him. That’s where the Inquisition had been ordered to provide that assurance. None were better, smarter or covert than the Inquisitors. It may have been an unusual move, and one that happened extremely rarely, but it would prove to be a move that could very well prevent this from happening again.
Several days had passed since he had been assigned to provide additional covert security. Inquisitor Thanatos had been in and out of several of the gatherings in remembrance of the Senator. There were plenty that could’ve proven to be future intended targets, but none more than another Senator. What would be bigger than striking down another Senator, and one that formerly represented one of the more controversial systems in the Empire?
Inquisitor Thanatos had followed her around for the few days that she had been there, expressing her condolences to her fellow former Senator. He knew the history of this woman, how she was given the seat shortly after the previous had been executed for treason. He started to feel how odd it was that he had been sent her, while this woman had been here as well. Could there have been an ulterior motive behind his assignment.
As the speeder pulled up, slowing to a stop, he stood at the ramp to her shuttle, waiting on her. His attire wouldn’t have thrown any red flags. He thought ahead and secured attire from the spaceport, allowing him to seamlessly blend in with the security that attended and protected the area.

| Jules grabbed her bag, as well as her own and followed along behind Ilanah, who was preoccupied with a message on her datapad. She didn't even notice the man standing on the landing ramp, at first. Though she did murmur her thanks to him as she handed the datapad to Jules, absently. Ilanah hadn't the heart to let the girl go after the Senate was dissolved, so she kept her on to help with her mothers school and the foundation, as well as manage other duties in her busy life.
"Jules...remind me that we need to make sure the scholarship funds get reset when we return home." She said, referring to the school. "And I have a council meeting tomorrow...morning, I believe." Surely Jules knew that already, but she was trying to keep her mind off of the past few days, and focus on the future.
Ilanah walked up the ramp, pulling off her coat once she was on board the ship. Jules did what she always did and took care of stowing the bags away and sat ear to the back of the shuttle and made the arrangements that Ilanah had asked her to, letting the woman sit in the silence and solitude that she often enjoyed.

| As the woman approached, he nodded to her, slowly responding as she murmured a thank you to him. He listened to what the two were discussing back and forth. As she approached, it seemed as if time had slowed down. Even though she had paid entirely no attention to him, he couldn’t seem to take his eyes off of her. Even with her dressed in black, she looked absolutely beautiful. Her golden hair seemed to shine even in the rather poorly light of the bay. Snapping out of his little moment, he remembered what he was there for, and his duties. He needed to focus on his assignment.
It seemed as if she was a charitable woman, a woman that posed no apparent threat to the Rebels. Everyone knew that they had no rhyme or reason to their attacks, but his assignment was to assure safety, and that’s what he would do. As she entered, he took a final survey of the area, assessing any dangers. Once she disappeared onto the ship, he began to walk up the ramp, calling out, “Ma’am. Ma’am!”
It was out of nowhere that he called out to her. After it had blurted out of his mouth, he began to wonder why it had. There wasn’t a reason for him to call to her. There wasn’t any immediate danger to her or the ship. The woman was all set to leave and return back to her home, and here he was interrupting it.

| Ilanah took her datapad back from Jules, just as she heard a voice calling for her. Jules, of course, started to intercept, but Ilanah help up a hand to stop her. Curiously, she looked down the ramp at the staff member that called for her. "Yes?" She had wanted to get settled in, but if it was important, she would want to hear it. "Is there an issue?" She asked, as she tucked the datapad in the crook of her arm as she clasped her hands together.
She didn't look angry, or disturbed by the interruption. It was only exhaustion that was starting to set in from not sleeping well, so she wan anxious to get home, to her own bed. She never slept well away from home. "Or am I being presumptuous that you were calling for me, and you actually needed someone else?" She offered a smile, however brief and small it was.

| As she returned to the ramp and responded, he nodded to her question, and replied, "Yes ma'am, I was calling for you." He took a slight pause. He didn't have any reason to have called her, it just sort of came out. As he quickly gathered his thoughts, trying to come up with a reason why he summoned her back to the ramp, he instantly rambled off the first thing that came to his mind, "I've been informed that the security personnel that performed their checks on your ship and the bay didn't properly inspect everything. My leadership is informing me that the inspections are needing to be reaccomplished in order to assure you have a safe departure and travel to your destination." He looked at her, hoping that she would buy it.
The Inquisitor had always been well prepared and quick on his feet. It wasn't a normal for him to quickly blurt out like he had. Something unusual was going on here. It wasn't the effects of something he had eaten or drank. It wasn't the work of someone attempting to control him. To him, it was this feeling in his stomach, a feeling he hadn't felt since a child at the Republic Academy all those years ago.

| She let out a low sigh and checked the silver cronometer on her wrist briefly. "Do we need to vacate the ship? I am certain our speeder is still out there and we can wait if needed." Ilanah said politely, still not quite paying very close attention to him. It wasn't out of rudeness, she was just distracted. Without waiting for an answer, though he would have time to stop her and Jules from leaving if needed.
"Jules? Could you get my coat please?"

| Just as she called out to her assistant, he held out a hand, motioning for her to stop, "No, there's no need. You can stay on the ship, just as long as we don't come across anything potentially dangerous." He motioned for her to head back inside, "Please, head back inside, I will make this as fast as possible. Wouldn't want to hold you up any longer than necessary."
Before saying or motioning anything further, he turned heading back off to the guard at the entrance to the hanger bay. With a quick wave of his hand, and telling him, "You should recheck the hanger, assuring there's no danger to our guests." Without hesitation, the man proceeded to head off and recheck the perimeter and random contents of the hanger.
As he stood there, looking back to the ship sitting there, he couldn't help but wonder what came over him. He was an Inquisitor. This sort of thing never happens to him. He was trained to not become attached to the mission. He shook his head, trying to get the thought of that woman out of his mind, but as he did, another brilliant idea came to thought. Before he could even get rid of the thought, there he was headed back to ship, more than likely going to dig himself further into all of this than he should have.
Stepping up the ramp, he again called out to the woman, "Ma'am, I've got just one more question for you, if you dont mind..."

| "If you are sure." She turned on her heel and headed back up the ramp into the ship to settle down and do some reading. Jules re-hung the coats up and went back to work.
Ilanah had just sat back down and turned her datapad on when she heard him calling for her again. "Oh for the love...." She murmured under her breath before she turned the device back off and stood, straightening her fitted black knee length dress. The former senator fixed a fairly perfect smile before she answered. "Yes? Is there an issue? Because I am sure another ship can be arranged fairly quickly. I would really like to get home some time tonight." Still, she was quite polite.

| As he came up the ramp, he could hear her say something under her breath. It was inaudible, but obviously a sign of her starting to get a bit agitated with the situation. She showed him a smile as she asked if there was an issue. He simply shook his head, responding, "No, no issues. I just wanted to ask what brought you here? I noticed that you were dressed in all black, and was curious, if you don't mind me asking." During his training, he was taught that emotions were everything. That was what drives his power. It was drives people to do things, smart or idiotic. This one was more than likely one of his more idiotic moments. Somehow his emotions had been pushing him to interact with this woman. There was something, unexplainable, that drove him to continue it.
Obviously he knew the reason why she was there. He had been keeping an eye on the events following the Senator's assassination, and recently keeping an eye on her. She was special to someone. The question was who. He had figured out that such a high profile person, such as her, would draw someone's attention. His curiosity wanted to know who, and why.

| She exhaled and drew in a deep breath. Be diplomatic, Ilanah. She reminded herself before she spoke to him. "Apparently you have not been following the news." She started, before she took her seat again. "I was at a memorial service for a dear friend, who was killed. The former senator of this planet." Ilanah cleared her throat before she leaned back in the seat and rested the datapad on her lap. She was trying, actually struggling, not to tear up again.
"I do hate to come off as rude, but, I would really like some peace and quiet. It has been a long few days, and I am tired." She said as she toggled the device back on. Normally, talking with someone wouldn't bother her, but it had been a long and stressful week.

| Compassion. Not usually what the Inquisitor felt, but here, now, he felt it for her. He could feel her emotions. They radiated off of her. It didn't take much to know the pain that she was going through. He knew he could help, but if he devulged that information to her, she's immediately know what he was. There weren't many left that were strong in the Force. Not like the numbers that the Jedi once held. Not like the early days of the Inquisition. Their number had dwindled since the events at Yavin. He took a seat next to her, looking over at her, speaking softly, “I feel your pain. What if I told you I could help? What if I told you I can help you control these feelings? Control the pain you are going through? Would you accept that help, or rather I leave you at peace and we both continue on our own ways?” The question was simple. He could help, and he put it out there for her to either accept it, or push it away and continue going through what she felt.

| She looked at him impassively, not registering any noticeable expression or surprise. "While.....I appreciate the offer, Mr...." Ilanah paused. "I am sorry, I did not get your name, and you seem to be...missing a name tag." She furrowed her brow briefly. They all wore name tags. The Chandrilan was suddenly wary of even his presence, especially his very unorthodox offer.
So she started again. "While I appreciate the offer, I fear that I will have to decline." She said, turning her gaze to the still blank datapad. If he was offering what she thought, it could only mean that he was a Force user of some kind, and she had learned quickly from the mistakes of her predecessors, that Force users and rebels were not to be dealt with and should be turned in.

| Ah yes, the name tag. He looked down, nodding his head, and only having a few choice curse words for himself. Yup, he had made a rookie mistake. No name tag. How could he have made such a stupid mistake like that? It was a lack of attention to detail. Details are everything. They help keep up the illusion you are going for, and here he was missing an important piece. He knew he was caught now. She either thought he was an Imperial Guard of some sort, sent to watch over her, or on the other side, she could've thought he was one of the Rebels, coming back for another strike.
Taking in a deep breath, he stood up. It was over. Might as well give in, and tell her some of the truth here. He began to explain, "Yup, the stupid name tag. The one thing I couldn't get a hold of. The name is Thanatos, Inquisitor. I apologize for the delays in your travels. I will leave you be." He turned, making a bee line towards the ramp, heading back off to assure everything was still under control and report in to his superiors.

| She watched him, almost bewildered that he gave up his cover so easily. It made her smirk, though it was slight. His occupation did not frighten her, as she was used to routine visits from Imperial representatives, to check on the loyalty of Chandrila and its representation. So before he could get far, she called after him.
"Inquisitor? Do tell, were you sent to check on me and my safety after this...tragedy? Or are you to report of Chandrilas unwavering loyalty to His Majesty? The last time, there was a check, they sent two star destroyers and troops as far as they eye could see."
