My profile is forthcoming, but I'd like to request first that my character, Benedict Starsgard, the Governor and Senator of Commenor, also be the leader of a group of New Republic worlds known as the Commenor Self-Defense League. These would be New Republic worlds who are concerned at the disarmament of the Republic fleet and the rise of the First Order, who have signed a mutual defense treaty at Commenor (hence the name), pooling their planetary fleets together for this purpose. That's the principle, at least. In practice, it would be a highly-dangerous, highly-unwieldy body of planets that don't really agree on much else, and have poorly-defined rules about how exactly to work together, and under whose command. As the President of the League (in principle a rotating presidency, but in practice it's always him), Starsgard would mostly use his influence to try to cajole the Chancellor into action by threatening to "take action ourselves" if he fails to do so. Most of the time, these would be empty threats. But the League would nonetheless be a constant threat to the Galactic Concordance and a thorn in the Chancellor's side.
