I'd like to request (and make generally known to the RP so people can get involved if they'd like) the political situation on Falleen as of 0 ABY.

First, what we already know from the canon:

● Politically, Falleen is made up of several kingdoms, each comprising several noble houses.
● By the Clone Wars, the planet was ruled by a single King of Falleen.
● By the Imperial era, there appeared to be little or no central government, with each kingdom ruling itself independently.
● The Falleen, as a people, tend to be isolationist.

What I propose is this:

● Falleen is politically divided between those who favor full autonomy for the traditional Falleen kingdoms, and those who favor a single planetary confederacy with a single King.

● A minority of galactic-minded Falleen believe a single government is necessary to represent the planet and its people to the rest of the galaxy.

● There are isolationists on both sides of the argument, however; those who believe that the Falleen kingdoms must defend themselves against one another, and those who believe a single King is needed to defend the entire planet from external threats.

● The Falleen have probably fought wars over this issue in the distant past.

● More recently, the King of Fallen in the Clone Wars being forced to join the Separatists against the planet's will has discredited the idea of a single King for 20 years.

● Vader's destruction of House Sizhran in 7 BBY eliminated Zayd's most powerful rivals, and he made an Imperial-supported bid to be King of Falleen (the Empire would support this because it perceives Zayd as pro-Imperial and easy to control, and a single government more efficient for tax purposes).

● A Falleen jirga, or "senate," may be convened at any time by Zayd or by a majority of the traditional Falleen kingdoms. It may legislate on domestic affairs but has only an advisory role on foreign policy. It also functions as a court to resolve disputes among the kingdoms. (I'm basing the idea on the traditional Islamic jirga).

● (Approximate figures:) 55% of the population support Zayd as the sole King of Falleen, his approval numbers bolstered by near-unanimous support in his native Umayr Kingdom. An additional 10% of the population are Falleen supremacists who believe in a strong, united species that is active in the wider galaxy. They, too, support Zayd. The remaining 35% are traditionalists who don't trust the other Falleen kingdoms and believe in complete self-rule.

● For the most part, this dispute is a non-violent. Zayd is as accommodating as possible to the traditionalists.

● However, Zayd does employ a secret police, mostly members of his own House Shahir who are personally loyal to him, and also some Falleen supremacists. They are violent and ruthless against Zayd's political opponents both on Falleen and elsewhere in the Doldur sector, typically under the guise of "anti-Rebel operations."

● When the Moff of the Doldur sector found himself the victim of blackmail, he turned to Zayd and his secret police to eliminate the blackmailer. Zayd did so as a favor to the Moff, but not before having the would-be blackmailer tortured to find out what he knew about the Moff's indiscretions. Since then, Zayd has had an excellent relationship with the Doldur sector Moff which has included permission to establish a Falleen Customs Fleet.

● Enlistment in the fleet is open to all eligible Falleen but its officer class is dominated by House Sizhran.

I think that about covers everything. I know it's a lot of information, but I want to encourage other people to get involved since WotF is somewhat lacking a political dimension, so I was as detailed as possible.
