Background:
Mason Gustavius Rhys Antares-Ransom, a young man by no means wanting for names, is, despite this, a man out to make a name for himself. Preferring "Gus" and his mother's maiden name of "Antares," he is most often known as "Mace Ransom"—racer, smuggler, and self-made scoundrel. Raised by Rebel war heroes Leroy and Mara Ransom, Mace grew up in awe of his father's war stories, but resentful at his frequent absences from his young life. Since the war, his father and mother—once smugglers themselves—have "gone legit," becoming successful New Republic functionaries. But true to his father's stories, Mace rebelled; after a falling-out with Leroy, he quit school and went thrill-seeking in the former Hutt Space, becoming a stunt fighter jockey and smuggler. He maintains contact with his family, particularly his mother, Mara, and sister, Delia, occasionally asking for money or favors.
