Family: Mara's father was a shipwright at the
Corellian Engineering
Corporation for 30 years, and her mother worked in
a jewelry shop in the
heart or Coronet that specialized in custom jewelry
set with only the
most perfect Corellian diamonds. Mara was not an
only child, she had a
sister named Mira, who was their mothers favorite.
But Mara, was a
daddy's girl.

Any knowledge of ships that she had came from what
her father did for a living. She grew up seeing schematics and
plans laying about in her fathers home office, as
well as seeing the
actual shipyards when he would take her to work
with him.

When Mara's father died, she left home and struck
out on her own. She worked
odd jobs here and there, but never really held
anything steady or stayed
in place for too long. With him gone, she was the
black sheep of the
family compared to her perfect sister and snooty
mother.

She spent many years working with a smuggling crew,
despite her initial reservations, which was where she met Lafayette
"Leroy" Ransom, whom she eventually wed.

While she might not have been the best at
self-defense or any means of fighting, unlike Leroy, she joined the Rebellion
also, usually staying behind on missions to do what she could to help from the
command or operations center...or tinkering with the ships. Sometimes,
however, she did go out and more often than not found herself in a fair bit of
trouble, which always ended in Leroy doing what he did best.
