Background:
Once a rising star of Imperial politics—the "wunderkind of House Cambrist" and one of the youngest senators of his time—Cambrist's star, and his fortunes, fell alongside the Empire he served. Ever a creature of politics, not of principle, Cambrist chose the wrong side in the Galactic Civil War, winning the favor of the Emperor and chairmanship of the powerful Imperial Trade and Commerce Authority, only to lose everything as, first, his homeworld of Brentaal fell to the Rebels, then the Empire itself. Upon hearing word of Palpatine's death at Endor, and bearing witness to anti-Imperial uprisings across the galaxy, Cambrist knew (however belatedly) that he'd found himself on the wrong side of history, and opportunistically defected to the New Republic. He accepted guilt for an episode, years earlier, in which he had lured a Rebel squadron into an Imperial trap at Far Qasqi, but his sentence was reduced for having saved Imperial records from destruction and delivered them to the Republic, and for lending Mon Mothma his expertise in galactic trade. For the deaths of over a dozen Rebels at Far Qasqi, Cambrist served only three months in prison.

In the following years, Cambrist returned to Brentaal and stayed out of politics, managing the finances of House Cambrist and slowly, but surely rebuilding his reputation. He served for some years as Brentaal's trade representative and continued to be sought-after as a consultant on the galactic economy, cultivating relationships with the new, less experienced and more forgiving generation of Republic senators. Recently, he has joined the Trans-Republic Alliance for Peace and Prosperity and founded the Brentaal chapter of the Diversity Alliance, which is somewhat ironic considering his long record of Humanocentric bias as an Imperial senator. Cambrist humbly insists he has no political aspirations, and seeks only to make amends for his years of Imperial service.
