Father: Jean-Luc Louis de Crion - refugee (77) Mother: Claire Geneviève Dubois - refugee (74) Sibling: Nathan Pierre de Crion - refugee (58) Sibling: Camille Léa Moreau - refugee (56) Sibling: Lucas Théo de Crion - refugee (54) Sibling: Lilou Chloé Durand - refugee (53) Sibling: Enzo Clément de Crion - refugee (52) Sibling: Jade Zoé Leroy - refugee (50) Child: Séraphine Dominique Leroy - Alliance Intelligence Operative (24)
Personality: Charismatic, progressive, caring, kind, inspired. They are but a few words to describe a man many consider the face of galactic liberalism. He is a believer in every word he says, and will speak his mind openly. He is not afraid to challenge someone on thought that he disagrees with, and is always upward looking and moving when appropriate. He believes in the people, in freedom, and everything the Republic stood for, and looks to restore the Republic as it were.
Background: Born in Mercy General Hospital in Prosperity on Tallaan to Jean-Luc and Claire de Crion, he was raised throughout his life in a working family; the youngest of seven children. At a young age, he was put to work in his father's store, but at night would always stare out at the stars that one could see through the bright city lights and find himself believing his destiny lie elsewhere. Despite the hardwork of his family, they were still lower class on the corporate dominated world, and rather than resign himself to an eternity in poverty, he went behind his family's back and applied to the Raithal Academy.
When he is accepted into the Academy, instead of joy, he is met with anger and derision. To the family, he was not bettering himself, and thus the family, but weakening the family as whole. It was with tears in his eyes, that he packed his meager belongings into an Academy-issues dufflebag, and left his family behind under the cover of night.
Despite his background and dramatic circumstances, he receives high marks from Raithal, graduating in the top 10% of his class, receiving a degree in Political Science, and achieving the coveted position of Combat Aviator. Following flight training, he is sent to Republic Fighter Attack Squadron 314, which was in turn assigned to the Outer Rim. After a year of service, he was promoted to Lieutenant and had received his own flight command.
Upon the outbreak of the Clone Wars, he was transferred into the Republic Navy and given a commission, like all other Judicial officers regardless of specialty. He served aboard the Acclamator-class Assault Ship Arrestor as a weapons officer and later tactical officer upon promotion to Commander. Following the Battle of Teth, he was promoted to Captain, and took command of the damaged Venator-class Star Destroyer Spirit of the Repubic. Upon completion of repairs, he commanded the ship as it rejoined the Open Circle Fleet for the remainder of the war, participating in all of its major engagements including the Battle of Ryloth, Battle of Umbara, Battle for Anaxes, Battle of Coruscant, and Battle of Utapau.
He protested the formation of the Empire and the legitimacy of the Jedi Rebellion, being saved from execution only be the interference of his former commander, Wulff Yularen. Instead, he was demoted back to Lieutenant, and became a starfighter pilot once more. Flying the ARC-170, he enjoyed a return to a simpler position and life, but his issues with the end of the Clone Wars could not be shaken throughout the campaigns in the Western Reaches. When he heard news of the Antar Atrocity, he made sure to leave the service as soon as possible a few months later.
When he did finally return to his family, he was welcomed with open arms and pride, despite the circumstances of his leaving, and quickly mended his broken relationships. After spending some time with his family, he attends Mrlsst University, obtaining graduate degrees in Applied Politics, Galactic Affairs, and Public Administration in three years. Shortly afterwards, he returned to Tallaan, with a mind of reform, and successfully runs a campaign to be elected Tallan's Minister of Public Administration. He is later elected interim First Executive of the Trade Council, and given the position permanently after one month.
Despite his success, his family was forced into unemployment by various factors, leading to the closing of the family store during his service. He used his new-found wealth to purchase the vineyard his family had ended up working on instead and turned it into a family business. After giving a rousing speech to the Freeworlds Parliament after encroachment by the Nobles on the Freeworlds, stating that Tallaan would do its part to ensure the nobles would stay out of the Freeworlds, he is written-in as a candidate for Premier of the Freeworlds, and won with 51% of the vote, becoming the youngest Premier at the age of thirty-two. After accepting his election as such, he stepped down as First Executive of the Trade Council of Tallaan. He was immediately chosen as the Representative of the Freeworlds to the Tapani Sector Delegation of the Galactic Senate.
Despite the upper class blocking his every move, he was able to begin a reform process throughout the Freeworlds. A movement becoming known as the Tapani Spring rises up behind him, leading to peaceful revolutions throughout the entire Tapani Sector, demanding democratic governments. While forcefully and violently put down by many nobles, the movement flourishes and thrives in the Freeworlds and was popular in House Pelagia and House Cadriaan. He was successfully re-elected as Premier with 90% of the vote four years later, choosing to remain as Representative as well. His wide success, and love by his constituency, was attributed towards his charisma, strong economic policy, work towards a progressive tax system with tax breaks for the lower class and workers, strong defense policy but even stronger diplomatic policy, efforts towards a better education system, and general distinction of right and wrong both within the Freeworlds and in the Senate.
Ultimately, it was his beliefs and liberal, progressive policies which were also his downfall. Seeing the prejudices of the Empire and the shattering of the Rights of Sentience, he began to speak out against the Empire. He began speaking out against the injustices of the government and the trampling of civil rights, preaching that the peace and unity of the Empire should not come at the cost of others. Eventually, he founded the All Stars Burn As One Foundation, which as a non-government organization worked to spread democracy and the ideals of the former Republic throughout the galaxy, including aggressive mass media campaigns against Senators and Representatives who supported the Empire's more objectionable policies. He was soon pressured by the Grand Vizier, Mas Ammedda, to cease his activity; in response, he made a rousing speech in the Senate railing against such a request and rallying the people of the galaxy to remember the ideals of the Republic.
Heavily censored, and in fact having the audio cut off during his speech, pirated holos of his speech soon spread across the galaxy while he was censored, suspended, and then expelled from the Senate. Attempting to flee Coruscant, he was barred from travel for three months both as an attempt to pressure him into apologizing for and renouncing his speech, and to give the ISB time to set up dissent in the Freeworlds against him. By the time he was able to leave and return to Tallaan, he was greeted with mass protests, often staged. Despite having a feeling it was subversion at play against him, he took to heart the protests and the moves of his legislature in condemning him and resigned immediately as Premier of the Freeworlds, echoing his speech in the Senate while doing so.
A year later, after spending the time since his sensational fall from politics working at his vineyard with his family, he was approached by a man named Darryl Varos. Varos was an Ambassador of the Empire, but also a member of group that would become known as the Ruusan Reformation League, one of the Resistance movements of the time. After a long conversation, Varos convinced him into actively opposing the Empire, despite his belief in diplomacy and democracy and in full opposition to his pacifism. He was able to disappear on his own terms along with his family from Tallaan, much to the Empire's chagrin.
Once his family was safely hidden, he began wandering the galaxy, giving rousing speeches in cantinas and tapcafes or oppressed ghettos, all as the anonymous figure known only as the Man in the White Cloak. While doing so, he began secretly meeting, as himself, with many sympathetic Senators and Representatives, all of whom were convinced into beginning to resist the Empire in their own ways. Once enough connections were made, and those directly involved and their families were made safe, he revealed himself to the galaxy as having been the Man in the White Cloak and as the leader of the newly founded and organized United Resistance Movement.
The URM, using surplus Republic equipment, weapons, and vessels from the Clone Wars that were captured or stolen, began dedicated military action against the Empire. The URM's forces were trained by veterans of the Republic Army during the Clone Wars, and held themselves to strict standard and principles while fighting the Empire. Unfortunately, he was truly a political leader, not a military leader despite his service; it was difficult to lead without a people to govern.
The URM was ultimately unable to gain the traction believed possible, largely due to a lack of resources as much of its leadership consisted of former Imperial Senators and Representatives on the run. When several resistance movements formed a coalition as the Alliance to Restore the Republic.
He has served as one of many to assist Mon Mothma in forming the civilian government of the Rebel Alliance. He now chairs the advisory cabinet to Chancellor Mothma, and continues to use his contacts to gather the remaining fugitive, dissident Senators and Representatives left in the galaxy.
