Garik Taynor became street-wise at a young age in the notorious "Blue Sector" of Coronet, the crime-ridden capital city of Corellia. Later explaining that he had "learned all the wrong things from all the wrong people," Garik was at one point a member of a Human-supremacist gang locked in never-ending street warfare with rival gangs of Selonians and Drall during the formative years of the Empire. His personal integrity felt out of place here, however; he had no animosity for either Selonians or Drall, nor for non-Humans in general. Seeing too many of his friends die for the cause of small-minded bigotry, Garik knew he would eventually share their fate if he didn't change the course of his life and, most importantly, get out of the Blue Sector. Seeing no other way out, he enrolled in the Corellian Security Force Academy and later graduated with honors. But he had no interest in going back into the Blue Sector to hunt down his old friends, and put in a transfer request to Coruscant instead.

Garik has served honorably, but with no particular distinction in the CSF, but chafes at the increasingly heavy hand of the Empire on the galactic capital world. As due process of law becomes a farce under Imperial rule, he once again is reluctantly questioning whether the cause he's serving is just.
