Personality: Adoven embodies Rhinnalian elitism but he remains a fair man. He is witty, sarcastic, and possesses a dry sense of humor. He prides his intelligence and has a well-bred, if not sometimes haughty, demeanor. Yet emotions stir beneath the composed veneer and they sometime bubble to the surface.

History: House Ryner came to Rhinnal with the first wave of colonists from Coruscant sometime after 27,000 BBY. Despite the planet’s position as a Core Founder of the Republic, it was eventually annexed as a colony of the Esselian Empire and ruled from the neighboring system.

One of Adoven’s forefathers rose to prominence in the capital city of Rhire and held mighty sway in planetary politics, a position House Ryner still holds to this day. Adoven’s father Damas—a keen and powerful orator—was elected Governor-General and served in the Esselian Empire’s senatorial committee as Rhinnal had no self-representation in the Galactic Senate. Despite their already significant autonomy, Damas petitioned fervently for complete independence from the Esselian Empire but the Galactic Republic never intervened.

Under the Galactic Empire, Rhinnal was granted marginal independence by 19 BBY as the Esselian Empire collapsed sometime before the Clone Wars. Moff Jander Graffe of the Darpa Sector reined in Esseles' power and overturned Rhinnal's classification as an Esselian colony, installing Phadreas Kole as an Imperial Governor. Kole was largely off-hands in his leadership, leading Rhinnalian opposition to the Empire to be muted.

With Rhinnal finally independent but under nominal Imperial rule, Damas Ryner was appointed as the planet’s first autonomous Senator. He was eventually rewarded for his competence and loyalty and was awarded the position of head of the Senate Intelligence Oversight Committee, a position he held until the Senate’s dissolution in 0 BBY.

It was to this politically ambitious father and his wife—heiress to one of the largest textile fortune in the galaxy—that Adoven was born in 28 BBY. He grew up wanting for nothing and knew his place among the galaxy’s elite from an early age. Gracious yet firm throughout his life, he quietly and unassumingly commanded authority and respect.

Adoven eventually elected to move off planet and graduated from the University of Coruscant. Unlike his father, he had no political ambitions despite the ease with which he glided through that world. Instead he chose to enter the Ministry of Information in the Imperial Press Corps. He had always dreamed of becoming one of the most recognized faces on the HoloNet and was well on his way to achieving this goal. His tenacity, assiduity and cunning, coupled with his pleasing appearance and social connections, easily granted him promotions and he soon became the Empire’s poster boy both on and off screen. As anchor and chief correspondent, he conducts his business with unwavering professionalism and is considered the most trustworthy source for information in the Empire.

Considered by many to be a decadent playboy, Adoven subserviently served the New Order. But bit by bit, his unwavering faith in the Empire began to falter: a once willfully oblivious participant, he began to question the status quo. And while his change of heart might not have sprung from altruism, the outcome was ultimately the same. The final straw came with the destruction of Alderaan. Shocked, he was assigned to report on the tragedy, but the Empire’s response to the situation and the rumors circulating about the cause of the disaster and its similitude to the destruction of Jedha City mere days before left a sour taste in his mouth. The many inconsistencies piling up led him to believe that the Empire truly was responsible and he found this act to be irreconcilable with his beliefs. The Empire had stood for order… This, however, was true barbarism. And if they were capable of such wanton destruction and cruelty, what other atrocities had they committed which he had helped cover up?

His investigative mind alight, Adoven surreptitiously dug around for leads and pressured his network of informants for any material they could give, even at the risk of his and their lives. What he learned left him shocked and disturbed. Enough was enough.

Personality: Adoven embodies the best and worst of Rhinnalian elitism but remains a fair man. He is witty and often sarcastic with a dry sense of humor. He prides his intelligence and is usually calm and calculating, however this composed demeanor will be thrown to the wind if insulted or engaged in a fight.

Miscellaneous: Adoven is an excellent marksman having received training as a child. He is well versed in the etiquette and protocol of different human cultures but still requires a protocol droid when interacting with alien species. Although he has more of a penchant for a refined life and indulges in “high culture”, he often ventures to the Uscru Entertainment District to frequent more obscure establishments.

History: The Ryner family came to Rhinnal with the first wave of colonists from the planet Notron (Coruscant) sometime after 27,000 BBY. Despite the planet’s position as a Core Founder of the Republic, it was eventually annexed as a colony of the Esselian Empire and ruled from the neighbouring system.

One of Adoven’s forefathers rose to prominence in the capital city of Rhire and his clan soon held mighty sway in planetary politics, a position it still holds to this day. His father Damas Ryner, a keen and powerful orator, was eventually elected Governor-General and served in the Esselian Empire’s senatorial committee, Rhinnal having no direct self-representation in the Galactic Senate. Despite their already significant autonomy, Damas petitioned fervently for complete independence from the Esselian Empire but the Galactic Republic never intervened.

Under the Galactic Empire, Rhinnal was granted marginal independence in 19 BBY as the Esselian Empire collapsed sometime before the Clone Wars.

With his with dream of independence finally realized, Damas Ryner stepped down as chief of state and was made a full-fledged Senator. He was eventually rewarded for his competence and loyalty and was awarded the position of head of the Senate Intelligence Oversight Committee, a position he held until the Senate’s dissolution in 0 BBY.

It was to this politically ambitious father and his wife—heiress to one of the largest textile fortune on Rhinnal—that Adoven was born in 28 BBY. He grew up wanting for nothing and knew his place amongst the galaxy’s elite from an early age. Gracious yet firm throughout his life, he quietly and unassumingly commanded authority and respect. Yet despite his well-bred, if not sometimes haughty, demeanor, Adoven possessed a debonair zeal he liked to indulge. Rhinnal’s climate being what it is, he never grew accustomed to the temperature and complained of the cold even as a child. Thus began a yearly family pilgrimage to the planet Spirra to enjoy the sandy beaches and the regatta.

Adoven eventually elected to move off planet and entered the University of Coruscant. He had a liberal education and juggled administration, communication and even psychology classes. Unlike his father, he had no political ambitions despite the ease with which he glided through that world. Instead he chose to enter the Ministry of Information as a clerk for the Imperial Press Corps. He had always dreamt of becoming one of the most recognized faces on the HoloNet and was well on his way to achieving this goal. His tenacity, assiduity and cunning, coupled with his pleasing appearance and connections, easily granted him promotions and he soon became the Empire’s poster boy both on and off screen. He hadn’t grown up despising the Empire and was therefore more malleable to their machinations. He knew that what he reported was dripping with propaganda and that his editorials were subject to heavy censure. Still, he did was had to be done with unwavering professionalism and was considered the most trustworthy source for information in the Empire.

Currently based on Coruscant, Adoven reports the political news of the capital daily to beings near and far. He was also awarded a weekly segment on the HoloNet News Network where he has carte blanche on the topic he covers, a far cry from his humble beginnings reporting from backwater systems. He’s been the recipient of Nova, Poracsa and Peamoney awards and developed an impressive network of informants. He’s even been made privy to some of Ministry’s confidences insofar as they have direct purview on his work and has successfully dodged some of their edicts in the name of journalism. Therein lies the chink in the armour of the man who had once so subserviently toed the line to get to where he was.

Bit by bit, his unwavering faith in the New Order had begun to falter. While he had once followed the guidelines and adhered to their standards, the willing and wilfully oblivious participant began to question the status quo. His change of heart may not have sprung from altruism but the outcome was the same. The final straw came with the destruction of Alderaan. Adoven was as shocked as anyone else when he first learned of the tragedy and was assigned to report on the case. But the Empire ultimately failed to conceive an appropriate cover-up and Adoven soon found himself pinning the destruction of Alderaan on the Rebel Alliance according to official Ministry directives. While he was willing to believe that much, new information proposing that an Alderaanian superweapon was responsible for the planet's destruction and that the Empire had no involvement with the incident left a sour taste in his mouth.

While he had a clear conscience and no knowledge of the truth, the many inconsistencies piling up led him to believe that the Empire truly was responsible. His investigative mind alight, Adoven surreptitiously dug around for leads and pressured his contacts for any information they could give, even at the risk of his and their lives. Satellite recordings of Alderaan's destruction, however, were smuggled out of the system by Rebel agents and an anonymous copy landed in his possession. What he saw left him shocked and disturbed. Still battling his crisis of faith, the Ministry of Information’s new official guideline was that the Alderaanian government had been developing a deadly biological weapon for the Rebel Alliance and that the planet’s destruction at the hand of Empire had been provoked and warranted. Alderaan had been known as a peaceful planet and a Core Founder of the Republic and member of the Empire. The populace might have been belligerent at times under the New Order, but these new accusations were too ludicrous.

Enough was enough.
