Information: The product of the doomed marriage of a university professor from Alderaan and a fleet security officer from Axum, Dannon Shays studied astrography at the University of Aldera and later distinguished himself in the Imperial Academy system, inheriting his parents' shared love of space travel and becoming an Imperial fighter pilot. Shays participated in numerous bombing runs on the rebellious world of Ralltiir, his culpability in the deaths of innocent bystanders troubling him deeply. Later assigned to Blackscar Squadron, then-Lieutenant Shays served as the squadron XO under Colonel Rissen, participating in the Battle of Turkana, among others. But the destruction of Alderaan, and the Death Star, changed everything; the Empire revealed itself to be the monster that Shays had suspected it was, and the Rebellion had proven that it could win. With the death of his mother on Alderaan fresh in his mind, and his father's descent into delusional pro-Imperial jingoism, Shays defected from the Blackscars during a training exercise and joined the Rebel Alliance on Sullust. He has since been assigned to Thranta Squadron as an Ensign, where he finds himself in the company of like-minded Alderaanians. The only Imperial defector of the group, he is reserved, disciplined, and determined to redeem himself for his years of Imperial service.
