Representative Crion,

You once supplied me with this contact information in a firmly-rejected attempt to enlist me in a predictably ill-fated movement of opposition to the Empire. In the event that this contact information is still current, and that I am indeed communicating with Mical de Crion, we must surely accept that circumstances have changed since our last encounter, Sir. Despite reports to the contrary, I, Reuke ur'Tsyne Cambrist, am still among the living. Further contrary to media reports I have seen, it appears that Imperial forces had a hand in the attempt on my life, rather than the old canard of "rebel assassins" being responsible. I have therefore been compelled to take certain precautions, and to reach out to certain persons who I'd not ordinarily countenance, such as yourself and, if the rumors are true, certain friends of yours.

I should be grateful, Sir, if you would place me in contact with these friends, and inform them that I have assets of value to them in exchange for assurances of my personal safety.

Sincerely,

Sir Reuke ur'Tsyne Cambrist
Chairman of the Imperial Trade and Commerce Authority
Seneschal of House Cambrist
Former Imperial Senator of Brentaal

Senator Cambrist,

I must admit that I am shocked by your transmission. While I did reach out to you, you were the last person I thought would contact me. Your... disposition... forces me to question your request. Despite that, we will meet. You are an innocent seemingly on the wrong side of the Empire's fickle temperament. Meet at the provided coordinates, and we will discuss your position further.

Representative Crion,

I am inclined toward self-preservation, Sir. I am not sorry for this. But although I don't deny that I am a self-interested man, particularly when it appears my life is in danger, I have also always been a man of the Senate. We had our disagreements in the past, Representative, but we had those disagreements in a democratic forum, which is the proper place to debate the issues as you and I once did. I was critical of the suspension of the Senate--indeed, loudly so. I can't but suspect that this is part of the reason that I find myself in the predicament that I now do, and I further can't but acknowledge that the values that the Rebellion espouses on this topic are not dissimilar to my own.

Therefore insofar as I seem to be associated with the cause of Rebellion whether I choose to be or not, and insofar as I can help to advance that cause while securing the safety of my person, I would suggest that this would be to our mutual benefit. However, while I do have assets in my possession that would no doubt be of use to your friends, my current mode of transport does not belong to me, but to Brentaal. We both know that the Rebellion is in desperate need of ships, and I am reluctant to meet in unfamiliar territory for fear that your friends may simply confiscate my vessel by force and renege on our deal.

I would prefer, then, to meet with your friends in the Centares system. I have a private retreat on the third moon of Far Qasqi, where the assets I have referred to are housed. I have no doubt, however, that the Empire may soon develop an interest in Far Qasqi and time, thus, is of the essence. I shall travel there presently, and if you agree to these terms, see to it your friends are there in force within the week.

Sincerely,

Sir Reuke ur'Tsyne Cambrist
