Calling for a Re-Commitment to Peace

Senators, the question of war or peace is one that has been repeatedly, resoundingly answered by the great, peace-loving majority of the people of this galaxy who support the Galactic Concordance. So I don't intend to take much of the Senate's time on this question today. The question before us now is the maintenance of the peace. Over the years, we have seen factions of Imperial remnants come and go, and the First Order is simply the latest of these. I do not deny that the First Order is objectionable to us as a tolerant and democratic society. The Empire was no less objectionable to us when we signed the Galactic Concordance with them. This did not then, and nor should it now, weaken our commitment to peace.

It is a documented fact that the so-called "Resistance" has a number of T-70 X-wing fighters in use against the First Order. By now, Senators, my views on this armed Resistance group are well-known to you and I needn't repeat them. My purpose today is simply to ask of Chancellor Banders that he re-commit himself and his administration to the terms of the Galactic Concordance and take new, vigorous measures to ensure that the New Republic Starfleet is accounting for its T-70 X-wings and not supplying them to the Resistance, and, at the end of the Chancellor's term, that he update the Senate on his progress.

Let us remember that it is in peace that the Empire was truly defeated. It is in peace that the New Republic can achieve the full strength of its economy and its people, and that support for the Resistance—for another war, for another generation of lost progress—only weakens us in the long-term.

Senator Gavrisom, My administration is touched by your words. Let me take this time to assure all of the New Republic my unwavering devotion to the Galactic Concordance, our galaxy has, for over 50 years suffered great wars and conflicts, mostly caused by human's penchant to aggression I might add. This so called "Resistance" is a group of disappointingly short sighted people who, though are greatly decorated for their wartime experience, have remained maladjusted to the process of peace. I don't know precisely who this Resistance group is, but I can say with assurance that the New Republic will make all efforts to combat any support of this group.

I will personally order the NRI to take account of our military have them specifically look into this T-70 affair. Our Starfighters shall only be used in defense of the good citizens of this Republic and our allies and not by a bunch of ragtag hooligans.

My dear Gavrisom thanks for bringing these concerns to this Senate and my Administration's. You are absolutely correct that the measures of peace are the ones that most help our society and let our economy grow. I might add that a key ingredient to this peace is the equal representation of power in our Republic both in the political sphere and the economic sphere. Our administration is committed to the one of the key ingredients to creating the conditions of war and that is humancentric structures. As we grow our Republic will only stand if we continue to raise the conditions of the poorest non humans of the conditions of humancentric consequences. Our Administration is dedicated to eliminating that as well.

I would also like to encourage the senate to comment further on this open discussion.

"We Humans can't possibly know what it's like to be poor, what it's like to be discriminated against. For too long, Humans have enjoyed the privileged halls of power. We must do better for our non-Human brethren. We must make way for those who wish to have a part in the halls of power. Our democracy won't stand unless Humans take a seat."

I agree what has been said thus far.

I am a man who enjoys peace. The past thirty years have my personal best. Before the Civil War even began, I was one of many former Imperial Senators who had to go into hiding to avoid the oppressive hand of Palpatine. While a member of the Alliance Cabinet upon its foundation and serving as such until the end of the war, I was a constant target for capture and/or assassination. I do not wish to revisit that chapter of my life in a similar fashion, my fellow delegates. If we are to avoid this we must do two things, formally condemn the Resistance and open diplomatic relations with the First Order. We must also certainly find out how and why New Republic war material is ending up in the hands of individuals outside of the New Republic.
