Little perturbed Vorn, even as he walked through the shambled ruins of the building, with debris scattered about; signs of time and ruin evident in all things. It did not bother him that the floor he walked was slightly below ground, or that it was only four floor above an ancient, active and unstable reactor. It did not trouble him him that the reactor was wired with more than enough explosives to breach its core and result in a massive explosion, or, for the fact, that those same explosives were daisy-chained to two other reactors throughout the area that were in an equal state. It did not even worry him that the combined explosion would level several hundred thousand meters of the area around. In his mind, there was no excuse to allow something possibly dangerous to escape. It did not escape his mind, though, that the laboratory was well hidden from sensors; to detect it from orbit would be an impossibility; to detect it by flyover would be practically as improbable, even to the best of sensors. Still, having a well-camouflaged laboratory was paramount to good research, especially if it were a project that was not ready to be revealed to the rest of the galaxy.

Walking along the passageway, strewn with rubble, Vorn halted before what appeared to be an inert door, thirty-two centimeters thick and armored. Moving to one side, he shifted some carefully piled rubble to reveal, down low, the door's control. Punching in his correct access code, he shifted the rubble back to cover the console while the door cycled open. Entering the small area beyond, he faced an identical door, as well as several holocams set in the ceiling. Ignoring the concealed laser emitters on either side of the wall, dormant for the moment, he stated his access code to the holocams. "Vorn two-two-seven." After several moments, the inner door cycled open to reveal a neat and tidy set of rooms, eight in all, that were filled with a myriad of equipment for experimentation; computers showing dozens of readouts and, in two of the rooms, a small sleeping area offset by refreshers and an eating space.

Within the structure, six Arkanians and two Yaka were working diligently on their respective parts of of the project. Once Vorn had entered, one of the Yaka broke off and approached him. "Temek, how are you and the others getting along? How fares the work?" Temek's expressionless face was at odds with the amusement in his deep voice when he replied. "Nobody likes working underground, but with the equipment and small numbers, we've managed to get by efficiently enough. Walk with me, and I will show you what we've managed."

Vorn and Temek began their tour of the small laboratory, with Temek pointing out their advancements and setbacks here and there. "We've managed to prevent the spread to organic parts, which is our major breakthrough. The problem, however, is that the delivery system doesn't replicate quickly enough. We can arm it in conventional weapons; mines, torpedoes, solid slugs and so forth, but the actual time of infection to negation is what we need to improve. That's... become our major block." Through the labs they went, ending the tour at the main doors.

"You've done well, Temek. Continue your work on breaking that final barrier. Keep testing, but don't draw too much attention in your subjects. Now, if you'll excuse me, old friend, I have a date with a certain Chandrilan to attend to." With a final good-bye to the rest of the researchers, Vorn departed the way he'd come, content that the project was continuing on schedule.
