The light freighter was safely tucked away somewhere inside the Western Forest. The crew made sure it would be difficult for the stormtroopers to locate their ship, until a such time they find the fighters of the native resistance. Darwin couldn't risk sending a message before he had arrived, because then the local Imperial authorities would have expected their arrival and increase their level of stranglehold upon Kashyyyk. Thus, the wookiees wouldn't have expected their arrival. However, he had a good friend within the local resistance. The wookiee was an old friend of his parents, and he should be allowed entry should he find his soon-to-be allies.

Before their arrival, Darwin had done a thorough research of the planet itself. He knew that the Imperial patrols, as well as Trandoshan slavers, moving about the forest weren't the only dangers. There were a lot of native fauna that would pose a threat to any one of his crewmembers. The astromech droid were asked to stay back and guard the ship, to either fly it away or self-destruct the ship should it fall into "wrong" hands. Meanwhile, the rest of the crew were moving alongside the young Jedi with silent footsteps. Darwin was not a fan of bossing anyone around, he considered himself more of an equal among his squadron (despite the fact he was the leader). Unlike most Imperial superiors, he encouraged input and teamwork. It made sense, when the Imperials took the "iron-fist" policy too literal pretty much all the time.

Except for Darwin, everyone was armed with blasters. All Darwin needed was his lightsabers and the Force as his ally. It had just occurred to him that the search for freedom fighters could take hours and hours in a place that is easy to get lost. The crew weren't worried about getting lost, though. If needed, they knew the coordinates of the ship. It was so important to find people that wants to get the Empire off the planet so badly, so he could proceed to the next part of his plan. The Jedi, alongside his personal freedom fighters, had gone on searching for hours while evading a couple Imperial patrols and managed to repel a pack of kinraths and a couple katarns. Darwin had told the traffic controller the truth to a certain point of view. In times of war, especially this one, perspectives are as important as ever.

Just as everyone was about to give up, Darwin had sensed a pack of lifeforms nearby but there were none in sight. The young Jedi were about to alert his friends of an incoming trap, it was too late. A squad of wookiees sprang off the ground and pointed their bowcasters toward him and his crew. His crew pointed their blasters right back, and Darwin sprang both of the lightsabers to life, letting the purple glow make up for some of the darkness within the forest. Luckily, no one has fired a single laser bolt yet. One of the wookiees would bellow in the native Shyrriwook tongue, and the IG-100 (modified to possess the translator programming) would interpret, "Identify yourselves!" Luckily for Darwin, his crew was full of diversity. Otherwise, it would be easier for the wookiees to shoot them down due to Empire's humanocentric beliefs.

Darwin would respond in kind, "I am Darwin Sky. We work with Rebel Alliance. We are here to help my good friend Worhanarr fight the Imperial presence on your homeworld. Worhanarr can vouch for me." IG-100 continued the translation, as the wookiees slowly lowered their weapons. Darwin deactivated his lightsabers, and made sure his friends did the same. The wookiees would then take them on another long trek, to a part of the forest where Imperials aren't known to be around. It wasn't a village, but instead, it was a small clearing beneath a very large wroshyr tree. There appears to be wookiees in all shapes and sizes moving about and sitting around, some seemed to train themselves in warfare such as shooting and unarmed combat. They did not stop walking until they were brought before a couple wookiees. One was Worhanarr, and another seems to be running the resistance.

Worhanarr gave Darwin a hug, as good as a wookiee can give anyway. "Yeah, it's good to see you again old friend." He gave Worhanarr a nod, as Ig-100 would interpret back and forth between Darwin and the native leader. It went on for about an hour before they finally agree on Darwin and his crew help train and fight alongside the wookiees in guerilla warfare. His friends, except for the IG-100, were given food and bed for the night while the young Jedi would proceed to initiate the next step of his upcoming plan. His comlink would open a secured channel and connect to his ship, which in turn, would be redirected into another secured channel to a contact on Alaris Prime, a moon to Alaris of which is a couple planets away from Kashyyyk.

Why did Darwin chose to contact someone that's a couple planets away, while he could have sent a message half a galaxy away? This was best for everyone, including the rebellion. The Empire has a tendency to pay attention to long-range frequency more often than they do to the shorter ones. For whatever reasons they do what they do, Darwin would simply leave a message for his contact: "We've made contact with the natives. You know what to do, Tach One." As the message was away, Tach One would, hopefully, be able to convince the Alliance Command of Darwin's plan.

The planet Kashyyyk glittered in his viewpoint, an under appreciated jewel that he beheld every morning.

Governor Hindane Darcc was a man of excess, and he reveled in that fact. A trueborn son of Anaxes, he carried himself with an air of authority and pomposity that would impress even the most decadent of Hutts. His office, situated at the highest point of the nearly-completed Avatar Orbital Platform, was a tribute to his love of all things finery. Resplendent, shimmersilk curtains embroidered in silver thread hung from every window, drawn back at all times to allow him to survey his world, and rugs made of various pelts lined the impossibly-black durasteel floor. The walls were replete with trophies of various sorts, the prized items on display being, of course, the mounted and stuffed Wookiee heads resting on above a mantle at the far end of the chamber. Every door opened facing that mantle, a construction effort he had stressed so that his 'subjects' would be forced to witness the price of rebellion.

As he so often did upon waking, he sat in his overlarge governor's chair and watched the slaves being taken to task, laboring night and day to complete the battle platform. Tarkin's folly with the Death Star would never be repeated here, he had sworn. This platform would be his fortress for decades to come, a testament to his unyielding grip on these future carpets and their homeworld. To that end, he had been very specific in demanding that this platform be armed to the teeth. And armed it was, the first thing he had ordered completed were the laser turrets and air defense towers, they rose up from the rock in cluttered formations, ready to repel any assault.

Hindane allowed himself a happy sigh, sipping blossom wine from his wookiee skull goblet. It had been a fascinating discovery, upon his first dissection of the natives, to discover how deep their skulls were. A bit of work sealing it, re-painting the skull a matte black (he loved black, after all) and voila, the perfect drinking implement.

"Sir?" A weaselly voice piped in from the entryway.

"Ah! Jenkins!" Darcc vociferated with a laugh, spinning about in his chair. When he spoke, the Coreward accent dripped off him like honey. The Governor had a talent for saying even the sweetest of compliments in the most acidic, spine-chilling sort of baritone. "I trust you're here with this weeks' numbers."

"I am indeed, sir," Jenkins answered with a nervous gulp, taking a few steps into the room. His polished boot came down on a wookiee pelt, and the young aide-de-camp fought back a grimace of disgust. "Mmn sir," he continued, handing the datapad off to Darcc with a feigned smile. "Might I say you're looking particularly refreshed, this morning."

"So kind of you to notice, Jenkins," his words finished with a hiss, cutting the air. "Yesterday's hunt really lifted my spirits."

"You were marvelous, sir."

"Governor," Darcc corrected, not even looking up from the datapad.

"Governor." Jenkins reiterated, inwardly cursing himself. "Might I bring you your breakfast?"

Darcc let the datapad fall to his lap, staring out the window ponderously. Silence filled the room, and Jenkins could have sworn he was hearing himself sweat.

"Nerf steak, rare. Some muja fruit. And more wine!" He gestured out with the skull goblet, sloshing a bit of blossom wine out onto the floor. Darcc frowned, glancing down at the forming stain. "And an ensign to come and clean this up. At once, Jenkins."

"Yes, sir," the aide replied with a salute, hurrying out of the room. Darcc focused his attention once more on the platform, his eyes trailing outward to the planet that lay beyond. His planet. Soon he would make his journey to the surface, make the rounds, inspire the men. Reports had been surfacing of an increase in wookiee attacks of late, and he knew better than to let such an infection fester. The rebellion on his world was a pustule, one that demanded a swift lancing, before hope could take root. And if there was one thing Hindane Darcc prided himself on, above all else, it was his ability to wring the hope out of the eyes of each and every slave he saw.

The Alliance had received Darwin's message. Later that evening, he would receive a cryptic response from "Tach One," his Rebel contact on Trandosha. It would read as follows:

Tach One to Glitterstim. Life Day presents are coming early, in one standard week. The Wawaatt Archipelago is lovely this time of year. Be sure to pack your glow stick.

To most people, it was nonsense. But Darwin would know that "Life Day presents" referred to a shipment of weapons for the Wookiee resistors, the Wawaatt Archipelago was the drop point, and the "glow stick" was Darwin's lightsaber, which was the signal to the Alliance contact on the Archipelago that Darwin was, in fact, who he claimed to be. In the meantime, Darwin and the Wookiees would have to make due with the weapons and resources they had.

Hours had passed since the initial contact with "Tach One," Darwin and his companions had been settled quite just fine into the native resistors' camp. They had taken a long trek to Kashyyyk (preferring to use the wookiees' terms rather than the Imperials' lack of respect in calling it "Wookiee World"), wanting to take advantage of a shortened break. However, the relaxation period was over once Darwin received a usually-cryptic message from his rebel friend. The young Jedi did not feel it was needed to respond, as the message was shown being received on the other end was quite enough. He felt it was best to move things along ahead of the predicted dropoff, so the wookiee resistors could get a clearer idea of how they would fight the Imperials. Darwin chuckled wryly at the notion the rebel contact had chosen the Wawaatt Archipelago as the dropoff location. He had sensed it was chosen carefully, perhaps even a symbolic gesture of the Rebel Alliance. However, he was unsure how his wookiee friends would feel about a such location. It was the site of a final battle between the clones of the Republic and the battle droids of the Confederacy. The wookiees had repel the Separatists only to witness the slaughter of the Jedi Knights and the first enslavement of their own people by the policy of New Order.

The young Jedi had recalled the R2-series astromech droid to the camp, ordering it to assist Tenir and Keke, which in turn would assist the wookiee technicians, in repairing or improving any aspects of technology (communication network, vehicles, possibly droids, etc.) in their possessions. Dak would train and instruct the current batch of wookiee resistors in two areas: how to properly utilize guerilla warfare, and study the Imperials' standard procedures of warfare. Nico would set off with a team of wookiee hunters, searching for and trapping the Tachs. This was an odd move, but there was a reason this would play a vital part to Darwin's campaign. While half of his crew were working closely with the wookiees in an attempt to increase friendships between the Rebel Alliance and the natives, Darwin decided to put another half to another use. After taking some lengths to convince the wookiee chief, of which wasn't easy, he would do what many did not expect.

There were four domesticated katarns tied to a medium-sized branch right at the edge of the camp. Darwin was the first one to mount, with Chumlee and the MagnaGuard following suit. Worhanarr would elect to tag along and be their guide as well as being the temporary representative of the resistors. "Keep your eyes open at all the time." He told the three companions,as the war-mounted Katarns would begin running away from the camp. The "team" would head straight for the Kkowir Forest (also known as "Dead Forest"), avoiding any Imperial entanglements as much as possible of course. Darwin hoped to do what a very few, perhaps none, had attempted to do so. That is not to negotiate an alliance, but rather a cease-fire, with both the Outcasts and what was left of the Sayormi. He knew both groups did not get along with each other as well as the wookiees. However, Darwin at least hoped to negotiate a settlement where the fighting focus would be shifted to the Imperials for the time being, and cease the "in-fighting" among the native population. He felt it was better if attacks upon the Imperials from multiple fronts without inflicting each other would make his campaign much easier and cause the Empire more headaches.

Meanwhile, elsewhere on the planet, a heavy rain fell on the Shortharr River. For centuries, the Wookiees had used the river for fishing, but that had changed in recent months, when the Shortharr Basin had been declared an "exclusion zone," off limits to Wookiees. More than one Wookiee village had been destroyed to clear the area. Why the Empire had done this, the Wookiees didn't know. But rumors had begun to circulate of a secret Imperial facility in the forest and a mysterious "Operation X." No doubt, Darwin would soon hear the rumors, if he hadn't already.

None of that mattered to Nagpirr, a proud and silver-furred Wookiee fisherman. What mattered to him at that moment was that his fishing boat was taking on water in the heavy rain, its engine had shorted out, and it was drifting down the river into the Imperial exclusion zone. With all the other fisherman sitting out the storm, Nagpirr had been tempted by the thought of having the day's catch all to himself. Now, his boat, a small craft of wroshyr wood construction, was in danger of foundering. Nagpirr, his fur drenched from the rain, decided that he had no choice but to send out a distress call.

Flight Officer Vandon's TIE fighter screamed over the scene, flying so low he drenched Nagpirr's wroshyr wood boat in water. The Wookiee waved one arm broadly at Vandon as he came around for another pass, the rain posing no danger to his TIE. In the Wookiee's other hand, he held a comlink.

"[Help me, my boat is taking on water!]" Nagpirr said in shriwook, his deep voice sounding throughout Vandon's cockpit.

"Why don't they speak Imperial?" Vandon mumbled to himself, then answered the Wookiee: "Unidentified Wookiee craft. You have entered an exclusion zone. Turn back in..." Vandon paused for a moment, deciding how generous he felt today, "... ten seconds, or be destroyed." Not very, as it turned out. He hated flying in the rain.

"[My engine is fried, and the current has me. I can't turn back. Please help.]", the Wookiee said, none of it comprehensible to Vandon.

"Ten, nine, eight..." Vandon looped widely over the basin and dropped back in low, approaching the Wookiee ship from a distance and drawing a targeting solution on his computer. His fingers hovered over the fire button on his control stick, tingling with anticipation.

Nagpirr continued to protest over the comm. "[Please Sir, I am in distress! I would turn around if I could, but my boat is—]"

"... seven, six, five, four..."

"[No! My boat is my livelihood! Without it, my family won't eat!]"

Vandon felt a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "... three, two, one..."

The TIE loosed a fury of green lasers at the river, most of them throwing water and steam high into the air, the rest of them blasting the fishing boat into wroshyr wood timbers. Nagpirr had jumped from the boat at the last second, taking his chances in the fierce current. The boat disappeared in a blaze of fire that disappeared an instant later, consumed by the river. Nagpirr struggled to hold on to a piece of debris as the river carried him.

"Well, that was boring," Vandon remarked to himself. He pulled up, as if to leave, but then paused. No, he wasn't satisfied. The TIE pulled up into a loop and approached the scene of the wreck again, flying directly down the course of the river. As Nagpirr, clinging on for dear life, saw the fighter approaching from the dark clouds above, he lost all hope. Then Vandon fired.

And fired, and fired.

"The Empire reaches far and wide, and is made up of countless individuals who all strive for the same overall goal: stability."

A week later, a few things had changed. Tenir and Keke, along with the R2 unit, had repaired some of the communication network but because it was older and some damage was already done, the communicator units are only designed for planetary communication. Therefore, communication network is only limited to communication between the resistance factions that are currently focusing their attacks toward the Imperials. Vehicles were salvaged in limited numbers, which meant the majority of wookiee resistors probably would still have to rely on war-mounted creatures for the time being. The CIS-aligned weaponry and battle droids were found in quantities, but most couldn't be salvaged. Those that couldn't be salvaged would have intact parts being taken out by the trio in order to be put to other uses.

Dak's progress of training wookiee warriors in the ways of guerilla warfare and studying the Imperial warfare procedures came with both positive and negative results. Some wookiees were ahead in understanding the fundamentals than others, but that is to be expected. The Jedi himself did not expect a positive overnight result, this kind of approach is cost-effective but time-consuming. Nico and the wookiee hunters were able to trap some Tachs, and were being brought to the wookiees' team of scientists to produce some quantities in scents of Tach glands. The reason behind the production of scents will be revealed at a later date. Darwin, along with Chumlee and the MagnaGuard, were able to negotiate an uneasy ceasefire with the Outcasts and the Sayormi with help from Worhanarr. It was not without a series of verbal spats and a couple of armed conflicts, however. With Darwin's talents for aggressive negotiations, he was able to shift both groups of natives' focus toward the Imperials and granted safe passages through the Kkowir Forest for the purposes of combating the stormtroopers and trade only.

Upon returning, Worhanarr was not happy to see his friend Nagpirr dead. His body, along with the broken pieces of wroshyr wood, were washed ashore three miles from the incident. A few wookiee fishermen were there to pull the body, and upon close examination, evidences pointed to murder. The blaster holes placed in different areas of body were too big for pistols and rifles. The radius and diameter of the holes indicated a TIE fighter had decided to blast the boat and killed Nagpirr in the process. Darwin took a personal interest of the incident, because he had to learn how severe the cruel treatment of wookiees by the Empire were. The time to execute the next step of campaign is coming up soon.

The young Jedi placed a hand on Worhanarr's shoulders and looked into his eyes. "Don't worry, we will hit them really hard. We will hit them really hard, really soon. Nagpirr and every deceased wookiee will be remembered." Once the whole ordeal had settled down a little bit, he had heard from a few of the resistors of "Operation X" base facility. It appeared to be a top-secret facility for the Empire. If it was truly that important to his enemies, then successfully attacking the facility itself would be deemed a symbolic victory among the native population. Darwin would be lying if he was not tempted to attack outright, but he knew better. The wookiee attacks had been on the rise recently, and the stormtroopers will surely try and squeeze their grip in order to weed out the masterminds of anti-Imperial resistances.

The Jedi was fully aware they had to start small, and work their way up to "Operation X." Darwin pulled the hook up to cover the most of his face, and turned to walk toward the wookiee chief in preparations to initiate the first actions of guerilla warfare.
