Name: Malcolm Winston Cross Nickname: The Wolf Operator Number: DI-128-1, IM-7434 Age: 32 Homeworld: Anaxes
Species: Human Gender: Male Height: 180.34 centimeters Weight: 90.72 kilograms Eyes: Blue Hair: Brown Skin: Light Blood Type: O- Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Affiliations: Galactic Empire Rank: Line Captain, Imperial Navy
Vehicles: Imperial-class Star Destroyer Pradeux, Lambda-class T-4a Shuttle Imperial Oak Weapons: SE-14C Blaster Pistol Clothing: Imperial military uniform. Typical clothing of the Core World aristocracy.
Father: Neil Simon Cross - former Admiral of the Coreworlds, former Republic Navy Admiral, Imperial Navy Admiral (57) Mother: Cadence Genevieve Hill - former Republic Navy Captain, Imperial Navy Commodore (57) Spouse: Eleanor Gwendolyn Cole - Imperial Navy Lieutenant (26) Vivienne Estelle Cross - toddler (3) Child: Nathaniel Sebastian Cross - infant (1)
Personality: Quiet, but not shy, he is known to be the man sitting in the corner of a room, observing the other occupants. He prefers to get to know people before befriending them, but is often warm and friendly to strangers. This nature contradicts his nature as a commander, which is cold and harsh, with the demand of perfection being placed upon all that serve under him with the knowledge that it will never be achieved. He punishes failure, corrects mistakes, instructs improvement, and rewards success; building a culture of constant improvement among those under his command. He is very protective of his crew, working to ensure the survival of all during combat. Unlike many, he does not partake in the "games of court" common throughout the Empire, instead focusing on his role as an officer and the assignments he is given.
Background: Born to a wealthy and notable naval family on Anaxes, Malcolm lived a life of privilege. Receiving the finest schooling in the arts of warfare, he was surrounded constantly by the expectation of naval service. His father being the Admiral of the Coreworlds of Anaxes, he was expected to serve in Anaxes' ever expeditionary naval force. He followed this course of action until he saw his father, like many others, stand up to serve the Republic upon the outbreak of the Clone Wars. His education and training proceeded to focus on a more galactic scale, and following the formation of the Empire, he was informed that it was expected he would serve in the Imperial Navy.
He would do his family proud, applying to the Carida Imperial Academy in 14 BBY. He became the star pupil of his class, many of his instructors awed by his ability in both tactics and strategy and his unusual fascination with the history of his enemies. He graduated the top of his class in 10 BBY, and chose to enter Flight School where he scored high enough to become a starfighter pilot. Following his first tour of duty, he was promoted to Captain and granted command of his own squadron. He would proceed to be promoted after each of the following two tours of duty.
Now a Major in the Imperial Starfighter Corps, he opted to laterally transfer into the Imperial Navy, receiving the rank of Commander. His career was becoming notable to many at this point, as he was selected to serve personally aboard Grand Moff Tarkin's flagship, the Sovereign, as the Tactical Officer. His exploits as a starfighter pilot on the Outer Rim fighting smugglers and pirates were something of legend among many, as he was considered Ace of Aces.
While he was able to run the operations of the Star Destroyer's wings without any difficulty, he found himself needing to adjust to the day-to-day combat operations of a starship. Tarkin took him under his wing for a time, teaching him all that he had learned during his experiences before and during the Clone Wars. Following this period of commradery, he was promoted to Executive Officer of the Sovereign just before its departure to Lothal.
Following the embarrassing damage suffered at Mustafar, he was transferred out of Tarkin's command, serving aboard the Imperator as the Executive Officer. As war began to break out, he became known for stepping up in matters related to combat. Despite often coming up with the tactics and strategies employed by the Imperator, his Captain always took the credit. He struggled for four years on the Imperator, until an unlikely source relieved him of his struggles.
During his time on the Imperator, he met a fellow Imperial officer he attracted his attention. Her family, like his, drilled her relentlessly to be the perfect Imperial. Unlike him however, whose upbringing was due to his pedigree, her similar upbringing was due to her family's need to prove their loyalty for a reason unknown even to her. A relationship blossomed between them as they talked, which would eventually lead to their marriage and two children. Due to the nature of their careers, guardianship of their children were given to her parents and they entered an open relationship.
In 1 BBY, Tarkin personally forwarded his name to take command of the newest Star Destroyer being deployed, the Pradeux. He proudly assumed command of the ship, which proceeded to be assigned to the protection of the Death Star as part of Tarkin's personal fleet. He personally did not enjoy the assignment, as it was quiet and uninteresting, but had the added advantage of being to relentlessly drill his crew.
He was deployed away from the Death Star during its destruction, but was present during the fruitless retaliatory strike against the already evacuated Rebel base on Yavin IV. Since then he and his crew had been held at Anaxes for questioning by the Inquisitors and Military Intelligence in relation to the events surrounding the Death Star's destruction. Now released, he has been given full operational freedom to pursue the Rebels and destroy them. He hopes to be able to annihilate the Rebellion to avenge his lost mentor, Wilhuff Tarkin.
