Name: Kyrum Axford
Alias: "Ky", "Ax", "Blazer"
Age: 27
Birthplace: Alderaan

Occupation: Starfighter Pilot
Affiliation: Alliance to Restore the Republic

Height: 1.82 meters
Weight: 78.1 kilograms
Build: Muscular
Hair Color: Blonde
Eye Color: Blue-Grey

Distinguishing Traits: Prefsbelt Academy tattoo on his neck

Force Sensitive: No

Weaponry: DH-17 Blaster Pistol
Ship: T-65 X-wing (also trained on Y-wings, A-wings, and most SoroSuub products)

History: Kyrum Axford has been, variously, a  spoiled ne'er-do-well, swoop racer, spice addict, and Imperial-turned-Rebel starfighter pilot. He was born to a wealthy family on Alderaan during the formative years of the Empire. At the conclusion of the Clone Wars, his father, Jon, a member of the Royal Alderaanian Engineers, was one of several high-profile Human starship designers recruited to the freshly pro-Imperial SoroSuub Corporation. When his wife forced him to choose between her or a promotion to SoroSuub's executive board, she and Jon separated. She later remarried on Naboo, and Kyrum never knew her well.

Kyrum was mostly raised by the droid attendants of his family estate on Alderaan, and though he attended the prestigious University of Aldera, he never took his education seriously, applying himself more to partying than studying. His father, spending most of his time on Sullust or Imperial Center on business, lavished money and gifts on his son in the absence of his time or fatherly attention. When Kyrum later dropped out of school and developed a passion for swoop racing, his father supplied him with numerous SoroSuub prototype swoops to encourage his son to succeed at something.

Kyrum would later compete professionally on swoop racing circuits, where he experienced for the first time the rough-and-tumble of life beyond the Core Worlds. With spice cheap and plentiful on the circuits and widely-used by swoop jockeys, Kyrum soon developed an addiction that culminated in him wrecking his father's JG-8 luxury landspeeder. Jon, deciding that his son needed more discipline than he was able to provide, threatened to close Kyrum's expense account if he didn't enlist in the Imperial Naval Academy on Prefsbelt IV, a planet far-removed from the decadence of the Core.

But Kyrum did no better at Prefsbelt IV than he had at the University of Aldera. He excelled only in starfighter training, learning from Soontir Fel alongside future Rebel pilots Biggs Darklighter, Derek Klivian, and fellow Alderaanian Tycho Celchu, his epic flight simulator battles with Celchu becoming the stuff of Prefsbelt Academy legend. Kyrum was one of the handful of cadets who Biggs Darklighter tried to convince to defect to the Rebellion, telling Kyrum about the Alliance's resistance to the Empire-supported SoroSuub corporation's tyrannical rule of the planet Sullust. Sooner than later, Darklighter told him, he and his father would need to choose sides.

Kyrum would not defect with Darklighter, however, as his spice habit returned and he was soon expelled from Prefsbelt for flying a TIE Fighter under the influence of glitterstim--though in his defense, Kyrum insisted it made him a better pilot, not worse. A month later, he found himself on a beach on the resort world of Spira, high out of his mind, when he learned of the destruction of Alderaan. Jolted out of his apolitical, hedonistic lifestyle, and feeling guilty that his addiction had saved his life while all of his friends from Aldera were almost certainly dead, he vowed to quit spice for good and departed Spira to confront his father on Sullust.

By then, the Rebel Alliance had taken control of SoroSuub and freed Sullust from the Empire. Kyrum found his father under house arrest, while everywhere else the planet celebrated its independence. Jon Axford was a tired man who perceived that his career, and probably his life in the Empire, was over. The destruction of Alderaan seemed not to affect him in the slightest. And yet he smiled in satisfaction that his son had finally found a direction in his life. The two reconciled; Kyrum joined the Alliance, and his father agreed to continue working for the now Alliance-friendly SoroSuub corporation, losing his fortune in the process.

Kyrum's experience as a pilot and his Prefsbelt Academy credentials earned him the rank of Ensign in the newly-formed Thranta Squadron, consisting primarily of Alderaanians with a passion to avenge the loss of their homeworld.
