| Admiral,
This is my first opportunity to speak with you since I was appointed Supreme Commander of the Alliance Fleet. I'm sure many considerations went into the Chief of State's decision, but please know that Mon Mothma and the Advisory Council do not value your expertise any less than mine, and neither do I. That is why I'm seeking your advice on a personnel matter.
Information has been received indicating that an Imperial re-supply convoy will be passing through the Ketaris system next week en route to Ord Biniir, and that it is carrying a shipment of the Empire's latest TIE fighter design, the "TIE Interceptor." We believe this new fighter has been designed specifically to counter the X-wing and other Alliance starfighters. Surely, then, you appreciate that this is an important opportunity for us to find out what we're up against.
It's my opinion that Vice Admiral Rullon's roving line is best-suited to this mission. Sigius has been close to me since I was a Commodore on Dac, and while I'm familiar with his tactical disposition, as the newly-appointed Supreme Commander I also want to avoid the appearance of favoritism. Thus I'm curious if you have anyone else you'd recommend, or if you concur with my tentative selection of Rullon?
Sincerely,
Admiral Gial Ackbar Supreme Commander of the Alliance Fleet Chief of Alliance Military Operations MC80 'Home One'-type Cruiser Independence

| Supreme Commander,
I must be honest with you; I had no aspirations upon the position of Supreme Commander. While I may be vocal in my opinions, I have a doubtful amount of experience in my opinion to lead the entire Fleet. I am honestly relieved that you were chosen and approached for the position.
I will assure you that I do agree with the decision to give this mission to Vice Admiral Rullon. You are the only commander thus far to face the TIE Interceptor in combat thus far; I defer to your opinion on who other than yourself would be ideal to lead this operation. While I believe Rulon is a risk taker, I expect it to serve him well here.
My only recommendation would be to assign one of our ace squadrons to assist on the operation. They have become a particularly useful and effect asset to our operations, with excellent track records.I leave which squadron up to your judgement and full knowledge of active operations.
(signed)
Admiral Jela Tarkona Alliance Fleet
Commanding Officer, Alliance Fourth Battle Group
