| Because of what had happened to hisparents, he had always promised to stand up for others that couldn’t defend themselves against the Empire. Sometimes, he does it against the orders of the rebellion. Darwin considered himself the guardian of freedom, and would fight as hard as he can every time he got the opportunity to. The rebel cells had decided to pull out of Ohma’Dun, one of the moons surrounding Naboo, in order to return to Rori where they had a small, secret base of operations. They were going to leave the Gungan radicals and disgruntled miners to their fate simply because the rebellion felt the battle couldn’t be won. The young Gray Jedi decided he couldn’t leave them hanging, and would defy the order yet again.
Whilehis rebel buddies were evacuating, Darwin raise his hood in order to use the white cloak to cover enough of himself. The Gray Jedi would run with the swift of quietness back into the forest. He did not expect to win this fight, but merely giving his allies a little more time and room to evacuate. High concentration of blaster fire and explosions could be heard. Darwin could see some of it in the thick of the forest, rapidly approaching the stormtroopers without being aware he was coming. There was a broken log resting on a stump nearby, thus he decided to run up the log. The lightsaber was activated, and a blue glow sprang to life. The young Gray Jedi flew in the air for a moment, before landing onto both of his feet with a good success. “Jedi!” A voice coming from one of the stormtroopers could be heard, and that fueled his anger even further. There were only a very few who knew of his true identity, and he never liked the pacifistic approach by the traditional Jedi.
Immediately in the process, he had swung his lightsaber and decapitated a few stormtroopers. “Go! Run!” That was the only words Darwin would manage to bark at the allied force of Gungans and disgruntled miners. He even went as far as utilizing the Force to throw several stormtroopers off balance. All of this had happened so quickly that it was a blur, but he managed to get his allies to withdraw. With the Imperials temporarily stunned at the punch Darwin had given them in their faces, metaphorically speaking of course, he used this opportunity to retreat with his allies. However, he couldn’t save them all. A couple of twin ion engines could be heard overhead. Darwin immediately knew what it was, the Imperials had sent the TIE bombers on a run. “Move!” The young rebel would bark an order, but it was too late. He managed to get back into the dense part of forest, but not before a couple explosions was heard. Darwin was not close enough to get killed, but he was close enough to simply be sent flying. Darwin landed his chest right onto one of the lower thick branches, and as a result, he got a bruised chest. A loud groan could be heard, as he tries to lift himself off. While getting up, he picked his lightsaber off the ground and clipped it to the belt.
At thatmoment, the young man looked around and did not see a single Gungan or miner alive. Their body parts were scattered all around. Darwin shook his head, he tried to save them. In the end, all he had done is to lead them to certain death because of his stature as a “Jedi.” While he wanted to take a moment to honor his death, he couldn’t. The stormtroopers were closing in, hence he had to use the Force to assist in his speed. The Gray Jedi managed to get to the forward command center before it got overrun by the stormtroopers. Darwin got into his x-wing Starfighter, and took off. There weren’t many rebel fighters that took off, as some of them were destroyed either by a bomb run or being shot in the sky. He knew he had to fight his way out, not only for himself but also for his rebel buddies. He, along with a few rebel pilots, would see themselves in dogfights with the TIE fighters. While seriously outnumbered, they had put up a valiant fight. On the way to space, rebel fighters were dropping like flies.
There were a couple of transports trying to head for Rori, but without sufficient fighters, they also succumbed to several explosions. Pretty soon, Darwin was being the only one left. He knew he couldn’t head straight for Rori. This would tip the Imperials off to where the Rori base was. Instead, he had put in hyperspace coordinates for Dantooine. The x-wing fighter had to pull off a few fancy moves before the hyperspace window was open, and of course, he took the opportunity. Entering hyperspace, he felt a momentary sense of relief for getting out alive. However, anger would soon followed. Darwin managed to let a deep sigh escape his mouth, and grabbed a joint from underneath the controls. Instead of mediating, he decided that smoking and getting high was the better option at the moment…
