Geoff Cole watched the wall chronometer on his wall slowly tick down. Five hours and fifty-nine minutes. He was a man who appreciated punctuality; things ran on time, or they did not run at all. This operation was no different. He'd made no secret of his intent to drive rebels and malcontents out of the Abrion Sector. He'd taken some pains to make it known sector-wide. He wanted them to know it was coming. Taking a page from Lord Vader's book, he'd utilized the fear of the Imperial fleet at his command. Who would be foolish enough to stand against a Star Destroyer? Who, for that matter, would be foolish enough to stand against two of them? No smuggler or pirate he could think of, that was for certain.

Calling up his operations section on his desk-mounted computer, he looked over the reports. All ships had reported in to the bridge, conducting checks of systems, personnel; pilots doing the same for their fighters. The Imperial war machine was a thing of beauty for Cole, and a machine to be respected. At Roon, he knew, the ship assigned there, a Tartan-class cruiser called Steel Fist was holding steady, well out of scanner range of the planet. The downside, of course, was that Cole lacked up-to-date intelligence on Roon without tipping his hand. Knowing the operation was coming was not the same as knowing the day, or the hour, after all.

At present, his assorted fleet, the Dominion, the Pride of Abrion, the Diligence and the Striker would emerge from hyperspace, eight minutes from Roon. At that time, the Steel Fist was to move in at full speed, taking sensor scans and updating Cole's fleet, which would then make the final leg of the jump to Roon and commence operations, alongside the Steel Fist, whose permanent station was Roon. With checks complete, however, Cole tapped in the order for all crews to stand down and assume a relaxed posture. There was no sense in taxing the crews too early, once everything was in readiness. Leaning back in his chair, Cole closed his eyes to mentally take some time and refine the battle plan.
